Real Moments

REAL MOMENTS It was my birthday yesterday, songs of praises filled my heart and I feel nothing but gratitude mixed with pain. I thought of the days of humble beginnings, uncertain dreams and fears for the future. I reminiscence on my childhood days, the innocence, the daring moments, friends, childhood curiosity and the blessings of multitude of siblings. We cheered, we fought, agreed and disagreed. Above all we formed a company of defending champions and supporting when necessary. I thought of many folks out there saddled with the weight of how to make their dreams come through despite all odds. This is for the boy, girl, teenager, youth, man and woman who carry in them an enviable destiny waiting for their time in the time of life to manifest. Keep up doing the work, follow your passion, labour for what you believe in your best days are here to stay. The miracles we often seek; are most times a few steps away from us. Just because we have waited for it for so long a time makes it look as though we need to travel far or exact ourselves to obtain it. In your troubled days; force joy, embrace gratitude at least for the gift of life. You sure can’t buy that off the stall. Remind yourself that this too will pass and your miracles will over turn your miseries. Your set day will over shadow your gloomy days. You are steps away from your best days. Keep your track on the path.

FEVERISH JUNE

This is one month of the year where expectations are high, anxiety and frustration bloom for many. It is that time when you begin to question whether it will be or not. My very nice friend and colleague once shared with me, that in life, people will always have expectations- you also have expectations. – When will you marry? Married- when are you having children? – Child comes. When are you having another child… and it keeps coming. It is life, don’t get mad, many of them mean well but shirk mockers. It is often a great challenge and sometimes a shaming experience when you don’t have what you should at a time or the things that comes naturally to others is often a jungle toggle for you. Meanwhile, at some point you will be disrespected by those who once respected you especially if they are more privileged than you in acquiring these life assets. They begin to address you in terms of their experience gained where you are lagging. Handle it well. Wow! It is a tough place to b...

The Journey of Becoming: Embracing Every Moment

There is always more to what we will BECOME—the dreams in our hearts, the pain in our chests. The highs and lows. The fleeting thoughts. The disappointing and embarrassing moments. The truths we told. The parts of us that stayed hidden. The stories we shared, the ones we are proud of, and the ones we left untold. The families that shaped us—our hopes, challenges, and desperations. Our nationalities, race, and identities. The clear paths and the undefined. The special moments. The grey days and the ones spent lingering in bed. The days we couldn’t see ourselves for what we could be. The defeating, deafening silence from those we once called friends. The lies we told ourselves about who we really are. The starting over days. The years we lost. The feigned laughter, the genuine one, the fights and quarrels with self and society. The hate, envy, and pretense from others. The ones that kept us going and the ones that brought us down. The moments that hit us where it truly matters. The love,...
BEAUTY FOR ASHES Sometimes in life we count our losses at other times we count our gains and more times than often we’re grateful for our losses, because it was necessary for the present success. Sometimes our pains seem to overwhelm our joys, we feel we’ll not live to see another day, we pray fervently that the day wrap us away along with all our troubles. Thank God not all wish come through, with the speed of light the new day comes with an air of freshness, a relief, all of yesterday’s puzzle are solved just by the arrival of a new friend, a phone call, a knock on the door or through an inspiring daily devotional that we struggle to read at first only to discover that it was specially meant for us to set us on the path for the day, strong enough to bear us wings to fly to the next phase of our life. Most times our pains work out the best, brings out the best in us. Expose our hidden talents, it tells us the more we can do, that we don’t know. Also our disappointment works out the m...
